Odell-Lake is a beautiful mountain lake that lies at the foot of Willamette Pass in the Deschutes National Forest, adjacent to the Diamond Peak Wilderness Area. The lake is over five miles long and a half-mile wide and is more than 300 feet deep. It offers excellent fishing with an ideal habitat for Kokanee Salmon, Mackinaw Lake Trout and Native Rainbow Trout. Guided fishing trips are available on the lake and boat rentals are available at the marina. Odell Lake is peaceful and serene, and lies in one of Oregon's most breathtaking areas. So if you're looking for quiet relaxation, this is the spot for you. But that doesn't mean there isn't plenty to do in the area. Besides fishing and boating, there is also swimming, canoeing, windsurfing, picnicking, hiking and biking. In winter, the Willamette Pass ski area has downhill skiing, cross-country and nighttime skiing. There is also a pretty meadow where kids can play in the snow. Four ski lodges are within minutes of Odell Lake, with many more within thirty miles. Odell Lake is a popular spot for birdwatching, and in the fall, it's an excellent location for hunting deer and elk. Odell Lake is east of the city of Eugene.

Odell Lake Weather & Climate

Central Oregon enjoys 300 days of sunshine per year and is relatively free of any climate extremes. Any variation in the weather depends on elevation and proximity to the mountains. The climate near Willamette Pass is generally mild, where temperatures drop off rapidly in the evenings year round due to the high elevation. It can be in the 70s during the day at the Pass in the summertime but near freezing at night. The Cascade Mountains keeps most of the rain over the valleys and on the coast, so it's relatively dry at Willamette Pass by comparison. Occasional sleet, hail or snow is possible in the winter. Snow usually falls during the evening and melts off during the day at the lower elevations. However, the high Cascades receive the state's heaviest snowfalls.
