Sunriver
is located in the pristine Cascade mountains of central Oregon. This beautiful resort community is nestled between pine forests and Mt. Bachelor, and offers a wide array of outdoor recreational activities. Sunriver has 37 miles of paved pathways for hiking and biking, and the scenic Deschutes River meanders through the community offering fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and rafting. There are three golf courses and 28 tennis courts in the community of Sunriver, and two public swimming pools that includes a wading pool for children. Magnificent Mt. Bachelor is a wintertime playground with alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and sledding. Other points of interest near Sunriver include the Lava Cast Forest and Lava River Caves, the Pine Mountain Observatory and the Sunriver Nature Center. Moonlight canoe rides are available, as well as underground cave tours, volcano and nature trips, and waterfall tours. For shopping and dining, the Sunriver Village Mall has a relaxed atmosphere where you'll find restaurants, ski shops, art galleries and unique gift shops.

Central Oregon enjoys 300 days of sunshine per year with low humidity levels and an arid climate. Any variation in the weather depends on elevation and proximity to the mountains. Central Oregon temperatures are basically warm in the summer and cold in the winter, but temperatures drop in the evenings year round due to the high elevation of the region. The Cascade Mountains keeps most of the precipitation over the valleys and on the coast, so Central Oregon receives very little rain. Occasional showers occur during spring and summer, and occasional sleet, hail or snow is possible in the winter. Snow usually falls during the evening and melts off during the day, and averages around 8 inches in January.
